Vintage circa 1950s British railway shunter's jacket.

Being sold "as is".

No issue label on this one.

Black wool front with cotton arms in a charcoal colour.  Three slip pockets at the front and 6 metal buttons to fasten, calico lining.  These are cut shorter in the torso and on the arms- by design.

NOTE that the front section feels a little shrunken, just a little, the button placket and edges are a little puckered as is the lower back hem seam.  It feels fine when on however.

Creased all over with some surface wear, a few areas of wear, a few fray nicks and surface tracks on the wool part. Some stitch trace marks on the sleeves and a small fray nick on the sleeve. The back section and sleeves are faded and show areas of uneven colour. Note that the calico lining is intact but shows stains, marks and mottles all over, most likely from dye transfer from the darker areas when it was laundered at some stage.

Priced accordingly.

Laundered and fundamentally clean.

15 1/4" seam to seam across the shoulders at the back
Sleeves are 26 1/2" from the shoulder seam to the end of the sleeve
Back length is 20 1/2"
20" across the chest under the arms, the same across the back, measured flat, side to side, pit to pit
narrowing to around 19 1/2" across at waist height when buttoned
